Bone Panels

Currently, there are limited ways in which to work with animal bones. It is possible to work with bone sheets or boards in the original form, however in this form the bone boards or sheets are in their raw cartilage form. In this form the bone material is easily workable, however it renders a large amount of the bone unusable. The ability to work with bones concentrates around three major areas; the surface, the size and the form of the bones. All three of these areas focus around the bone marrow and its composition. The collagen which composes the bone marrow can be used as a glue, which becomes liquid in form when heated, and dries quickly into a transparent amber color when left to cool. Using a tool made of animal bones the designer can manipulate the bone sheets or boards into a desired pattern, size or consistency with a certain amount of elasticity or transparency if desired.

Material samples of the bone panels can be tested in the material library of Burg Giebichenstein (https://www.burg-halle.de/)  in Halle-Salle and the material libary Raumprobe ( https://www.raumprobe.com/de ) in Stuttgart.
